(Kennewick, WA) -- The Kennewick Fire Department says it had nearly double the amount of calls it had to respond to over the course of a 24-hour period Wednesday into Thursday. In a statement, the department says crews responded to two rollover crashes on Bob Olson Parkway. It also assisted Benton County Fire District #1 with a residential structure fire in Finley, and had a larger than normal number of medical incidents. Fire crews were also dispatched to the Brookdale and Canyon Lakes Assisted and Independent Living Facility, located at 2802 W. 35th, for broken pipes. When KFD crews arrived on scene, they found a 2” residential sprinkler line in the attic had broken, and was
leaking a substantial amount of water. This resulted in significant water damage on all three floors in the
south wing of the building. Water damage was significant enough that approximately 36 people had to be
relocated. Impacted residents were moved to vacant rooms in other non-impacted areas of this facility, other
facilities, and some were sent to stay temporarily with family members.
