(Richland, WA) -- The weather was crisp and cool, but the reception warm and welcome at Badger Mountain Park in Richland Monday as the Friends of Badger Mountain received a $25,000 check from the Kadlec Community Foundation. The money will be used to help the Friends continue work on their latest land and trail preservation project at the Little Badger Mountain Ridge.

"We have had to raise a lot more money than we've had to for creating other preserves. This has also been a very complicated process because of land being so expensive. The donation really gave us a boost." said group Co-Founder Sharon Grant-Ghan.

Kadlec Community Foundation Board Member David Lippes adds that the project is a natural fit for encouraging healthy lifestyles, and improving overall activeness in the community.

"The Kadlec Foundation wants to support activities that help our community get up and stay healthy. By building all these trail systems, the Friends of Badger Mountain are inviting us." said Lippes.
