UNION GAP, Wash.- Two people are in the hospital after a hit-and-run, head on collision just outside Union Gap early Saturday morning.

Washington State Patrol says an unknown driver was headed southbound in the northbound lanes of State Route 97, two miles south of Union Gap just before 12:30 a.m.

They collided with another car driving northbound. A 60-year-old man and 57-year-old woman were taken to the Yakima Valley Memorial hospital. The offending driver left the scene before Washington State Patrol arrived.

Both cars were totaled.
