Fundraiser Underway to buy BCSO K9 Sable, a Kevlar Vest

(Kennewick, WA) -- The Benton County Sheriff's Foundation says they are raising money to buy a Kevlar vest for the BCSO K-9 Officer Sable. The foundation says that with the recent passing of Seattle Police K-9 Jedi in the line of duty, they wanted to raise awareness of the dangerous situations a K-9 officer faces everyday. Sable's duties include Benton County Sheriff’s Office deputies, neighboring agencies, and the Tri-City Regional SWAT Team in pursuing the most violent offenders, searching for lost people and searching crime scenes for articles of evidence. The Kevlar
vest costs $2,600 and protects against stabbing, shrapnel, and bullets shot from common handguns.

To Donate: Funds may be sent to the Benton County Sheriff Foundation. K-9 Sable will receive 100%
of donations to fund the K9 Storm Kevlar vest. If donations exceed that total when the campaign
ends, funds will roll over to other K9 needs or projects to help Benton County Sheriff’s Office K9s.
