Chelan man killed in crash on Highway 12 in Walla Walla County

LOWDEN, Wash.-- A two vehicle crash in Walla Walla County Tuesday morning left one man dead, and one woman injured.

According to the Washington State Patrol, a pick-up truck driven by Jay S. Clark, 68, Chelan, was headed eastbound on State Route 12 several miles west of Touchet, when the vehicle drifted into the oncoming lanes and collided head-on with another vehicle.

Clark was pronounced dead at the scene.

The driver of the other vehicle, Dixie L. Basel, 69, Walla Walla, was taken to Providence St. Mary's Medical Center by LifeFlight.

Troopers say both drivers were wearing seatbelts, and alcohol or drugs are not considered a factor in the crash.
