YAKIMA, Wash.--A 26-year-old homeless woman is facing charges after she tried to kidnap a three-year-old girl at Miller Park Tuesday night. Police originally responded to a call for a mental health check, but upon arrival, they discovered much more was happening. According to the report, the suspect tried to abduct the child as she was playing in the park with her 11-year-old sister.

"The 11-year old chased the adult female down and they started fighting, at which time two other homeless people interceded on behalf of the three-year-old and the 11-year-old", adds Yakima Police Captain Jay Seely.

By the time authorities arrived, the three people had the suspect restrained. The woman is a stranger to the children and the family. It is believed she was having mental health issues of some kind. She was booked on 2nd Degree Kidnapping, and 4th Degree Assault.
