Wildfire scorches dozens of acres near Benton City

BENTON COUNTY, Wash.-- A wildfire burned at least fifty acres of land in western Benton County Thursday evening.

The fire at Dennis and Webber Canyon Roads south of Benton City was reported just before 8:00pm. Both roads were closed down overnight, but reopened early Friday morning.

Crews from Benton County Fire Protection District 2 were first on the scene, with multiple agencies also responding to help fight the blaze.

The fire was reported to be contained at about 1:00am. No structures were damaged, and there were no reports of any injuries.

The cause of the fire is under investigation.
