White House approves Washington’s disaster declaration

WASHINGTON, DC- President Trump approved Washington State's disaster declaration Sunday…unlocking more federal assistance in battling the COVID-19 outbreak.

The move, that followed a 74-page request letter last week from Governor Jay Inslee, grants the state’s request for assistance with crisis counseling and training to address the impact of the outbreak on the mental health of affected Washingtonians.

Other disaster assistance programs requested remain under review by the White House, including expanded unemployment assistance and basic food benefits.
