Washington AG to Help Law Enforcement Buy Sexual Assault Kit Refrigeration Units
(Olympia, WA) -- Over four-dozen law enforcement agencies in Washington are getting help paying for sexual assault kit refrigeration units. The Washington Attorney General's Office is allocating over $177 thousand in grants to help 53 agencies pay for the refrigeration.
Some of the local departments include:
- Ephrata Police Department
- Kennewick Police Department
- Moses Lake Police Department
- Pasco Police Department
- Pullman Police Department
- Yakima Police Department
The money will help the agencies follow a state law that requires them to store unreported sexual assault evidence for 20 years and evidence from reported assaults for up to 100 years.
