(Olympia, WA) -- The U.S. Department of Agriculture is releasing $4.5 million to Forest Collaborative programs in Washington. The programs are agreements between the Forest Service, timber industry, and environmental groups that allows timber harvesting without the risk of any courtroom drama. The programs help strategically thin the forests to reduce wildfire risk.

Meanwhile, six projects in Oregon will split 16 million Forest Collaborative dollars.
