WENATCHEE, Wash. - U.S. Senator Maria Cantwell announced today that the Wenatchee National Forest will be getting $5.5 million through the U.S. Forest Service’s Land and Water Conservation Fund.

The funding will go towards acquiring 3,350 acres of land to maintain public access to motorized trail networks in the Wenatchee Cascades. This will benefit locals and visitors who use their jeeps, motorcycles, snowmobiles, and mountain bikes on the trails. The money will also contribute to watershed protection and restoration efforts in the Yakima River basin.
