(Kittitas County, WA) -- Both the Snoqualmie and Blewett mountain passes were reopened at 5 p.m. Sunday after being closed last Wednesday due to treacherous conditions. According to the Washington State Department of Transportation, traffic is open both ways through the passes with a 45 mph speed limit and traction tires are advised. It is still recommended that motorists avoid the passes for now if travel is not necessary. Most exit ramps and chain-up areas are still impassable, and there is limited access to restroom facilities; motorists should be prepared to pass through without stopping.

White Pass is still covered with a considerable amount of snow and debris. crews will likely have it ready to reopen late Monday afternoon.

Officials say Stevens Pass will likely remained closed until Wednesday due to ice, snowslides and the risk of avalanches.
