Two Pierce County Deputies Shot. Suspect Dead

UPDATE: The Pierce County Sheriff's Office says two deputies are hospitalized following a shooting that happened around noon today in Spanaway. One deputy was gravely injured and remains in critical condition. The other deputy underwent surgery and is expected to survive. The Sheriff's Office says the shooting happened at Pacific Avenue South near 190th Street South. Details of what led to the shooting haven't been released.

(Spanaway, WA) -- Two police officers are reportedly injured after being shot in Washington state. The two deputies were shot during a SWAT operation in Spanaway, south of Tacoma. The officers were both transported to an area hospital where their injuries are unknown. Pierce County Sheriff Ed Troyer reports the suspect was dead.
