Seattle to Pay $3.5 Million in Wrongful Death Settlement

(Seattle, WA) -- The city of Seattle will pay $3.5 million dollars to settle a wrongful death lawsuit. According to the Seattle Times, the settlement was reached Monday night for the family of 30-year-old Charleena Lyles. The pregnant mother of four was at shot and killed at the Magnuson Park Apartments in 2017 after she called 9-1-1 to report a burglary. The two responding officers claimed she was armed with a knife, and lunged at them when they arrived.

Lyles’ four children are between the ages of 5 and 16. They're currently being raised in California by Lyles’ aunt.
