
Two People Arrested in Connection to Six Different Thefts at Campsites in Yakima County
(Yakima County, WA) -- Two people are behind bars after admitting to stealing guns and other equipment from several campsites in Yakima County. The investigation started when deputies responded to reports from a hunter who claimed his rifle was stolen from a hunting camp near Rimrock Lake on Monday. The hunter told deputies that he noticed a Mercedes parked at the site off Tieton Reservoir Road. Authorities pulled the car over and questioned the man and woman inside. Later, deputies uncovered a campsite with a tent that containing firearms and other items linked the items to six reported thefts.
The two suspects were booked in the Yakima County Jail on investigative holds related to theft, possession of stolen property, multiple counts of theft of a firearm, unlawful possession of a firearm and other associated charges.
