PASCO, Wash.-- Tri-Cities Animal Control is reporting two more cases of cat mutilation.

According to a facebook posting Sunday morning, two more cats were found "cut in half" in Kennewick. One of the mutilated animals was found in the area of 17th and Kellogg St., along the canal. The other was found in the 1100 block of Park Hills Dr.

Last week, Animal Control reported two cat mutilations, one found near Costco, the other at 37th and Vancouver.

"There are natural predators in our area, coyotes and dogs," said Deb Sporcich, Director of the Tri-Cities Animal Shelter. "It's important to keep cats inside as much as possible, or build them a 'catio' so they can be outside but are still protected."

Tri-Cities Animal Control is based in Pasco, but provides animal control and shelter services for Kennewick, Pasco, and Richland.

"If you find a dead animal, call us, we pick up DOAs (dead animals), that's our job," Sporcich said. "Especially if the death appears suspicious so that we can investigated it."

Investigators are asking residents in the area of the mutilations to check surveillance video to see if there might be any clues as to who is responsible for the deaths. Kennewick Police are also involved in the investigation.

You can contact the shelter at 509-545-3740 or Kennewick Police at 509-628-0333 if you have information that can help with the investigation.
