PASCO, Wash.-- Investigators say an outstanding debt was the motive for a recent assault and kidnapping that left the victim with some non-life-threatening injuries.

According to Sgt. Rigo Pruneda with the Pasco Police Department, the victim was walking near a friend's house when the two suspects were driving in the area and spotted the man.

"They just scooped him up while he was walking down the street, zip-tied him and threw him in the car and took him to an undisclosed location, took his personal belongings that were valuable," Pruneda said. "They said you still owe us some money and then let him go."

The victim reported the incident, and with several other witnesses backing up the man's story, investigators were able to obtain a warrant to search the suspect's home.

"When we executed the search warrant, we located some narcotics and a weapon. The two offenders are felons so they shouldn't have a weapon."

The suspects, identified as Terrence Jeremy Berry, 34, and Dwight Junior Norwood, 47, were both taken into custody early Thursday morning and are being held at the Franklin County Jail on charges of kidnapping and robbery. Berry faces additional charges for narcotics possession with intent to deliver, and being a felon in possession of a firearm.

There are no known gang ties to any of those involved in the incident.
