PROSSER, Wash.-- The Prosser School District sent out a letter to parents Friday to outline some of the ways the district plans to address the next six weeks of the school year in light of Gov. Jay Inslee's order to close all schools in the state starting no later than Tuesday, March 17.

School officials plan to hold classes on their normal schedule Monday, March 16, however any after school activities, including after school athletic practices, will be cancelled at least through the scheduled end of the temporary closure on April 24, 2020.

Any groups that had planned to use the school facilities for meetings or other events will be suspended. District staff are expected to contact those that are impacted by the change.

Prosser schools will continue to provide breakfast and lunch for its students, though district administrators have not yet released information about how that will be done.

They're also working out ways to provide child care for target groups, such as emergency responders and health care workers, according to a directive from the governor during Friday's announcement.

Teachers and other staff will try to provide suggestions for enrichment and educational activities for students during the closure.

The administrator will provide parents with updates on how meals and other services will be delivered. That information will be provided through email, on the district website, and through the district's social media pages.
