Ron Wyden Calls on Supreme Court Justice to Recuse Himself From two Cases
(Salem, OR) -- An Oregon Senator calling for Supreme Court Justice Clarence Thomas to recuse himself from cases related to the Capitol riot investigation and the 2020 election. Democratic Senator Ron Wyden made the request after The Washington Post and CBS News reported Thomas' wife sent dozens of texts to then White House Chief of Staff Mark Meadows pleading with him to help overturn the election results.
None of the texts in question reference Justice Thomas or the Supreme Court, specifically, but Wyden argues judges are obligated to recuse themselves when their participation in a case would create even the appearance of a conflict of interest.
