The City of Richland on Monday announced that it has selected John W. Bruce from Frisco, TX as its new Chief of Police.

Chief Bruce has more than 30 years of law enforcement experience and joins Richland after climbing the ranks within the City of Frisco, TX Police Department, where he has served since 1996.
He was named Frisco Police Chief in January 2013.
When notified of the appointment, Chief Bruce stated he was very excited to join a team of talented professionals in the Richland Police Department who share a commitment to public service and excellence.
“I am confident that Chief Bruce’s experience and commitment will be a good match for the City of Richland," said City Manager Cindy Reents in a statement released Monday. "His understanding of police leadership and community engagement, coupled with his proven track record, will be important assets for our City for years to come.”
Bruce replaces Chief Chris Skinner, who resigned in 2018 after accepting a position as Police Chief in Eugene, OR. The department has most recently been led by Interim Police Chief, Jeff Taylor.
He's expected to begin his new position sometime in June.
