Registered sex offender arrested after trespassing at Kennewick High School

A registered sex offender was arrested Friday morning after an incident at Kennewick High School.

Kennewick Police say Brandon Hankel, 36, with no known address, went into the school through the gym annex and contacted a female teacher in her office.

According to a report from police, Hankel made comments to the teacher related to a possible sexual assault.

Hankel then ran from the building but was arrested after the school resource officer chased him down in the area of 1st and Fruitland.

The suspect was taken into custody, charged with burglary with sexual motivation.

Hankel was previously trespassed from all Kennewick schools
