(Portland, OR) -- Portland State University President Stephen Percy has issued a statement following Monday's fatal shooting of a student outside a convenience store near campus. He says the victim, Amara Marluke, was an artist, an activist and a vibrant member of the university community.

Marluke was 19-years-old. Though police have not said what led to the shooting, they did arrest suspect Keenan Harpole in Bend after he turned himself in to police. He's charged with Murder in the Second Degree and Unlawful Use of a Weapon.

The university is making resources available to students at the Center for Student Health and Counseling, the PSU Employee Assistance Program, the Women's Resource Center and the Cultural Resources Center.
