SPOKANE, Wash. (AP) - The number of refugees moving to Spokane has dropped this year.

World Relief Spokane, which works to settle refugees in Spokane, says it brought just over 400 refugees to the state's second largest city in 2017.

KREM-TV reports that the group said almost 600 refugees settled in the area in 2016.

World Relief Spokane director, Mark Finney says he was surprised by the decrease, given global conditions.
