State Representative Tom Dent was taken to the hospital for chest pains Wednesday.

According to his office, the Moses Lake Republican complained of chest pains while taking a break from voting on bills in the state Legislature in Olympia.

Staff members called for ambulance and he was transported to the hospital.

In a statement from his office, Dent says medical tests showed he did not experience a heart attack.

“I have been recovering from a serious case of walking pneumonia the last couple weeks. The doctor informed me if I experienced any dizziness, I should to go to the hospital. Calling for emergency medical personnel was a precautionary action."

He says he was likely dehydrated because of his recent illness, and was given fluids and released from the hospital.

Dent was back in the House Thursday.

The 2019 legislative session is scheduled to adjourn April 28.
