MOSES LAKE, Wash.-- Fire gutted a liquor store in Moses Lake Saturday night.

Officers with the Moses Lake Police Department responded to a burglary alarm at the business in the 1100 block of N. Stratford Rd., and found it was filled with smoke.

Captain Brandon Burns with the Moses Lake Fire Department said firefighters weren't far behind.

“We arrived a few minutes later, just before 11:00 pm, and found the building fully charged with smoke and a fire that looked to be in a back stockroom,” Burns said.

The fire initially swept through the building, fueled in part by alcohol. The blaze then mostly snuffed itself out due to a lack of oxygen and fuel.

The building was unoccupied at the time and there were no injuries. The business suffered extensive damage, with the exception of an attached apartment that appears to have only smoke damage.

Firefighters spent about 4 1/2 hours on scene.

The Moses Lake Police Department is helping with the investigation.
