(Redmond, WA) -- Microsoft beat Wall Street estimates for quarterly earnings in the company's second fiscal quarter. The tech giant posted earnings of $2.48 a share on revenue of $51.73 billion. Those numbers beat estimates of $2.31 a share and $50.88 billion in revenue. Net income grew 21% to $18.77 billion.

The Redmond-based company recently acquired video game company Activision Blizzard in an all-cash transaction valued at $68.7 billion. hen the transaction closes, Microsoft will become the world’s third-largest gaming company by revenue, trailing only Tencent and Sony.

The deal is expected to close in fiscal year 2023.
