A 15-year-old is behind bars after trying to rob a convenience store but a clerk and her son were able to turn the tables on him.

Kennewick police say the teen came into the Union Mart off 325 S. Union, demanding money on Tuesday around 3:30 p.m. Officers say the clerk thought the boy had a gun,  and she started to ask a lot questions, and the boy became frustrated and that is when another customer walked into the store and he took off.

Officers say before they could arrive, the clerk's son, who lives across the street, was able to track down the 15-year-old and bring him back to the store to be arrested.

The 15-year-old did not have a weapon on him. He now faces attempted armed robbery charges.
