JOPLIN, Mont.-- An investigation is ongoing into the deadly derailment of a Seattle-bound Amtrak train in Montana. Authorities say the train called the Empire Builder was headed from Chicago to Seattle with 147 passengers and 13 crew members onboard when it left the tracks near the city of Joplin Saturday afternoon. At least three deaths have been confirmed and dozens were injured, including seven who were hospitalized for their injures. The National Transportation Safety Board is investigating.

Meanwhile, no word from Amtrak yet as to what may have led to the derailment but further details are expected to be made public once they become available. Amtrak operates a station in Pasco. We're looking into whether there were any Tri-Cities area travelers aboard at the time of the incident.
