(Seattle, WA) -- Sound Transit is investigating an incident that left dozens of passengers stranded in a light rail tunnel following Friday night's Apple Cup game in Seattle. According to the transit agency, a train was disabled around 8:30pm Friday between the University of Washington Station and U District Station

Passengers were left stranded on the train with no communication from transit authorities. They eventually opened the train's emergency exits and walked through the tunnel to the UW station. Sound Transit says it immediately suspended light rail service in both tunnels after learning passengers had gotten off the train.

The initial report suggests a severed electronic cable caused the disruption. Further investigation will include a review of measures to ensure passengers stay onboard the train during such incidents for their safety.
