PASCO, Wash.- Governor Jay Inslee visited the Tri-Cities Tuesday and stopped by Robert Frost Elementary School in Pasco to see how they are adapting to in-person learning amid the on-going COVID pandemic.

"Schools can open safely", Gov. Inslee noted. "They can open in a way that improves student's performance, and they can open in a way with minimal transmission, with no hospitalizations of people, and this is something we can do today. We know this beyond a reasonable doubt."

As more students are returning to at least some in-person learning, many are calling on Inslee to remove the six-feet distance requirement for schools in an effort to have even more students back in the classroom.

"There is some emerging evidence that is could be very possible to do this without a reduction in safety", Inslee said. "So, we are evaluating that science right now, we have not made any final decisions on this."

However, Inslee would not commit to saying when Phase 3 re-opening guidance may be released, and what activities may be a part of that.

The Governor was also supposed to visit the Mass Vaccination Site in Kennewick, but had a schedule change and had to cut his trip to the Tri-Cities short.
