A dark plume of smoke drifted into the skies above Finely Monday afternoon. What was originally believed to be a mobile home fire turned out to a motor home fire.

Benton County Fire District 1 crews were called out to some property off of Williams Road PR SE shortly after 1:00 PM. Officials say someone started up the motor home in order to drive it to another location, and let the engine idle while they went into a nearby shop. After a few minutes, they smelled smoke and went back outside to see the RV on fire.

The man tried putting out the fire on his own, then called 911. By the tire crews arrived at the rural location with a water tender, the fire had destroyed all the metal base of the vehicle.

Crews managed to keep the flames from spreading to the nearby shop.

No one was hurt.
