Plan to wear green and grab a pint of beer after work? You are not alone this St. Patrick's Day!

According to a study by WalletHub, 82% of Americans plan to wear green, 13 million will drink Guinness beer and 31% plan to cook a special meal for the holiday. Speaking of food, there is a 70% increase of cabbage delivery during St. Patrick's Day week. The cost of cabbage also up this year by about 11% from 2016, or about .50 cents a pound.

The U.S. loves the holiday, so much so, the first parade was celebrated in Boston in 1737 and not Ireland. Irish, is the states second highest European ancestry at 33.5 million, just under German at 46.4 million.

Of course the downside to the holiday which features green beer and Guinness is the rate of drunk driving accidents goes up, with 30 people getting killed in drunk driving crashes in 2015.

So if you plan to raise a mug of Guinness and a forkful of cabbage at the local pub, make sure you have a safe ride home.
