Five Hanford workers were medically evaluated after smelling odors at the air and water service building in the A Farm Tuesday morning.

Officials say three workers who experienced symptoms were medically evaluated that morning and released to return to work Tuesday afternoon. Two others who did not experience symptoms and originally did not want to be evaluated, decided later on to be looked at. The last three workers decided not to get evaluated by a heath care professional. All the workers were cleared to return to work later on Tuesday.

Washington River Protection Solutions says the employees were working inside and out of the 285-A facility, which is a new water and air service building near the A tank farm. In a statement WRPS says workers were not in an area that required supplied-air.

Officials released that the samples taken in the area were at or below background levels of radiation. The area was opened back up to workers about seven hours since the incident was reported.
