The Washington State Patrol says two children were killed in an accident involving four vehicles and a semi-tractor trailer this morning on Highway 28 near East Wenatchee.

Two boys, ages 12 and 14, were killed, and a woman in the same vehicle was one of three people injured, the state patrol said. Trooper Bryan Moore says the children’s mother was listed in critical condition at Central Washington Hospital.  Two other individuals were listed in stable condition.

After a lengthy closure and accident investigation, the highway was reopened about 1:45pm

Moore says a car with the mother and two boys inside, was heading westbound on Highway 28 and crossed the center divide. It was struck first by an eastbound semi-truck and again by a second eastbound vehicle.  The accident was reported about 8 a.m. near the intersection of Rock Island Road, about 5 miles east of East Wenatchee. Troopers say a fuel leak also developed from the semi.
