A local museum plans to reopen its doors with a new feel for the community and new pieces of history to explore.

Administrative Director Stephanie Button with the East Benton County Historical Society says the museum was temporarily closed down in February for a gallery floor reorganization.

Button says a lot of the objects and exhibits had been on the floor for several years, so the museum staff worked all month to bring out many of the items that were in storage. The administrative director adds the museum has a new flow, giving visitors a peek at the area before it was the Tri-Cities, all the way to items from the present time.

"Easily over 10,000 objects ranging from arrowheads to farming equipment to a life saver from a ferry that use to travel up and down the Columbia River around the Tri-Cities area," says Button.

The Grand Re-Opening celebration is set for Saturday with a ribbon cutting at noon. On March 11th, the museum is hosting 'Family Saturday' with family tree paintings. Admission rates still apply for both events.
