Half-way through the month of July, and just a couple of days have hit at or near triple-digits this season.

For some area businesses, that's translated to a boon for business.

"The cooler weather brings more people out, even the recreational golfers we call it, rather than the competitive person," says Canyon Lakes Golf Course golf pro, Matt Mandell. "And since numbers are down in the industry in general, yeah, I think  these temperatures actually help golf courses tremendously."

Mandell says the temperatures have also had a positive impact on the course itself.

ealthy, the turf is solid, you've got plenty of water right now without any restriction," Mandell said. "The golf course in general might be in the best shape I've ever seen it in the 17 years I've been here."

Contrast that with HVAC technicians at Campbell and Company, who aren't as busy right now as they're used to.

"Usually mid-July people's air conditioning units are breaking down and we're going out to do replacements and fixes," according to Campbell and Company Marketing and Communications manager Amanda Bogen. "But now we're working on making making maintenance calls that we usually save until the Fall."

Bogen says the company doesn't foresee having to issue any layoffs, but they are working hard to bring in business, such as new unit installations, and moving up annual maintenance appointments, in order keep technicians busy.
