The Washington State Auditor's Office has concluded the Sheriff’s Office lacked proper oversight over the issuance, usage, disposal, and tracking of training firearms and ammunition at the County.

The investigation covered the year 2019, and noted responses from both the County Commissioners and Sheriff that addressed their concerns.

However, it did not refute the claim by commissioners that in January of last year, they learned of 14 cases of county-owned ammunition were at Sheriff Jerry Hatcher's home...one of the pillars of the recall effort against him.
