A 7-year old girl who was burned in a mobile home fire in Benton City last month, has died from her injuries.

Ericka Hernandez Carillo was pulled from a burning mobile home on July 31st, along with her 10-year old brother. The children's father was seriously injured when he rescued them.

Benton County Fire District 4 Captain Ed Dunbar said the father was outside when he noticed the mobile home off 27722 E. Kennedy Road was on fire. Firefighters say he rush back inside to pull out his two children. The children’s mother was also on the property at the time, but she was not hurt.

Benton County Sheriff’s office says all three were first rushed to Kadlec and then airlifted to a Seattle hospital.

Firefighters say when they arrived, about half the building was engulfed in flames. Firefighters say there are no hydrants in the county and they had a bit of a water supply issue, but they were able to knock down the fire. A pickup truck was also destroyed by the fire but crews saved two agriculture sheds on the property, right next to the home.

Benton County deputies say the cause of the fire was ruled accidental.
