KENNEWICK, Wash- What had been expected for some time became a reality Monday evening.

The 55th annual Tri-Cities Water Follies and Over the River Air Show will not take place the last weekend in July because of restrictions in place from the COVID-19 pandemic.

"This decision was not made lightly and was reached after much discussion and consultation with local leaders", Executive Director Kathy Powell said.

No new date was announced, but Powell says the organization is currently targeting a weekend in September, after what would be the final stop on the H1 Unlimited Hydroplane circuit in San Diego.

That potential new date will be announced in mid-July. Sea Fair in Seattle was outright canceled several weeks ago.
