It has been dubbed the "World's Largest Swimming Lesson" and Richland is taking part.

The community is invited to George Prout Pool Friday from 3:00 to 3:30 p.m. for safety tips and how to stay safe in the water.

The lesson is part of a world wide event that pools, water parks and swimming locations take part in to help prevent drowning. According to the organization, drowning is the second leading cause of unintended, injury-related death for children ages 1-14.

The event is free and open to all ages. The group is also working to break the records of the "worlds largest swimming lesson."
