WALLA WALLA, Wash.-- Police officers never know which of their skills and training they'll be called upon to keep the community safe. For one Walla Walla Police Officer Monday, it was his Commercial Driver's License (CDL).

According to a press release from the Walla Walla Police Department, officers and medics responded to the area of Main St. and 2nd Monday for a truck driver who was injured after falling from his semi.

The driver was taken by ambulance to the hospital to get checked out, and officers were left with a dilemma-- what to do with the semi tractor and trailer blocking traffic?

Officer Spencer Kelty hopped into the driver's seat and put his CDL to good use, driving the truck loaded with ice cream to the parking lot of the police department parking lot where officers kept the frozen confections under close guard until the driver returned a short time later to pick it up.
