(Olympia, WA) -- The Omicron variant of COVID-19 is spreading in Washington. Secretary of Health Dr. Umair Shah says that while the Delta variant is still responsible for most cases, the number of Omicron cases is increasing. Shah is urging everyone who's been vaccinated to get a booster as soon as they're eligible and for people who aren't vaccinated to get the shot. He says being vaccinated will reduce the effects of COVID if you get Omicron. People who aren't vaccinated are about 18 times more likely to be hospitalized.
