(Benton County, WA) -- A woman was left stranded with her two dogs for three days after her car broke down on a remote stretch of road in Benton County. The woman named Holly was from out of town and became stranded after accidentally taking a construction exit near Ridgeline Drive and 395. Her car battery died and she was forced to ration only a few crackers between her and her dogs until a mountain biker, William, happened to ride by. He was able to call police.

Holly told the officers that her phone was dead and that she has a disability which prevented her from seeking help on foot. Officer Castilleja made contact with construction workers from Scarsella Brothers Inc. Their mechanic, Shawn, without hesitation responded to put gas in Holly’s car and jumpstart the vehicle.

Using the Kennewick Police Foundation Community Care Fund, police were able to purchase Holly some gas, water, and dog food before sending her on her way. She says she's extremely grateful for the actions of everybody involved.
