(Seattle, WA) -- A Seattle mountain climber is a Guinness World Record holder after his climb of Mount Everest. Andrew Hughes drank tea at a height of 21, 312 feet above sea level on the Nepal mountain's Camp 2 last May.

In a new release, Hughes said the idea came to him in 2020 when COVID-19 travel restrictions and lockdowns helped him realize it wasn't just the mountain summits that he missed; it was the connection to nature and community tied to those places.

“The warmth in hand also gives an opportunity to warm one's heart and lift one's spirit no matter the conditions outside and which you are facing,” said Andrew.

That made the mountains the perfect place for Hughes and his companions to sip tea. Now, nearly one year later, Guinness has officially certified the record for the highest tea party ever recorded.
