RICHLAND, Wash.-- In the midst of so much uncertainty, and despite the current school year being on an indefinite pause due to the COVID-19 outbreak, the Richland School District is moving ahead with its search for a new superintendent.

The school board announced earlier this year that it has selected four finalists to replace Rick Schulte when he retires at the end of the school year.

The school district learned earlier this week that one of the candidates, Dr. Jon Holmen, had accepted the superintendent position in the Lake Washington School District.

The board held video forums with the remaining three candidates this week. Those forums are available for viewing on the school district website, and the board is still accepting feedback from the community. The feedback forms are posted with the video links.

Board members plan to hold an executive session on Sunday to discuss the applicants, and could make a decision at that time which of the candidates to select. If a decision is made, the board would then come out of executive session to make a formal motion to offer the position to one of the candidates.

The community is encouraged to view the meeting via livestream on the school district's facebook page.
