Moses Lake Man Arrested In Beating of 9-Week-Old Baby

(Moses Lake, WA) -- Moses Lake Police say they've arrested a 21-year-old man for the brutal beating of a 9-week-old baby. In a statement the department says that on early Friday morning, Officers responded to Samaritan Hospital for a report of the baby who had sustained severe injuries and was getting prepared to be flown out to Spokane for treatment. The baby had 8 broken ribs, a collapsed lung, three leg fractures, as well as abrasions and bruising to the face and head. Investigating officers interviewed family members and recovered evidence, including a security video that captured audio of part of the assault. It was on Saturday morning, detectives arrested Donovan Cantu, 21, of Moses Lake. He was booked into the Grant County Jail on First Degree Child Assault charges. The baby is getting treatment for their injuries.
