Fairchild Air Force Base to Likely Become Alternate Site for New Series of KC-46 Air Tankers

(Spokane, WA) -- Fairchild Air Force Base in Eastern Washington may not be home to the next series of KC-46 air tankers as some had hoped. MacDill Air Force Base in Florida was recently designated by the Air Force as the preferred host site. They say that decision was based on missions, infrastructure, community support, environmental considerations, and costs.

Fairchild, however, could still become a reasonable alternative and will undergo environmental impact analysis before a final decision is made next year.
