The Cub Creek fire in Winthrop has now split in to two fingers according to the US Forest Service and the USDA who are monitoring the fire. One finger is burning North and East over Boulder Creek towards the previous Tripod Fire scar. The second finger is burning north and parallel to the Chewuch River where it crossed the 8 mile ridge South of Paul Mountain. the Cub Creek Fire is estimated at 4,690 acres.
