Walla Walla man arrested following short stand-off

WALLA WALLA, Wash.-- A Walla Walla man faces several charges after holding police at bay while they investigated a weapons complain Thursday night.

According to Sgt. Gunner Fulmer with the Walla Walla Police Department, officers responded to a home in the 1200 block of E. Alder when a woman called 911 to report that a man inside the home had assaulted her, and was pointing a shotgun at the her and her 19-year old son.

The victim and her some were able to get out of the home, and officers made verbal contact with the suspect, later identified as Craig H. Ramsey, 47, Walla Walla. Ramsey, who was hiding in a bedroom in the house, warned officers to leave the residence.

The on-duty-Sergeant requested that the Walla Walla Regional SWAT team respond to help resolve the situation.

Officers continued to monitor the house while waiting for SWAT to assemble at the site, when Ramsey appeared at the front door. With no weapon visible, officers deployed a Taser, incapacitating the man and taking him into custody.

Paramedics took Ramsey to the hospital for an evaluation before he was transported to the Walla Walla County Jail. Investigators obtained a warrant and were able to recover the weapon from the house.

Ramsey is being held on suspicion of Assault in the 4th Degree, Unlawful Imprisonment, and Violation of a Protection Order.
