Umatilla Mayor David Trott resigns

PENDLETON, Ore. (AP) - The mayor of Umatilla, Oregon, has resigned, citing irreconcilable differences with the city council.

David Trott has clashed with the council over the performance of the city manager, and his belief that the manager wasn't forthright in his job application.

Trott called a special executive session in January to discuss his concerns and the council chose to take no action.

In a resignation email, Trott accused the council of putting "its collective head in the sand" when it comes to the problems facing the small city.

The council next meets Tuesday.
